In my early writing days before ready-Internet access, research was a matter of creative "digging". For First Loves, research included diverse strategies as:

• My dear friend and fellow author, Steven Cooper, put me in touch with a great female defense attorney who taught me everything I'd need to know for the Meg character over a Mexican dinner;
• I actually paid a visit to the renowned Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires (luxury times three);
• I contacted the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau who sent (by U.S. Mail!) wonderful heaps of brochures, maps, etc. of "Alissa's" stomping grounds.
